Jeff has been a professional musician for many years. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass. majoring in arranging/composition. While there he studied with, amongst others, Joe Viola, Phil Wilson, Andy McGhee, Charlie Mariano, Bill Maloof, Ted Pease, and Herb Pomeroy. Jeff won a scholarship to Camp Ramblerny, a music camp in Pennsylvania run by world class jazz saxophonist Phil Woods. After college, he "went on the road" with the Jazz/Fusion group "Great Lakes Express" for several years. Settling back in Saginaw, Jeff was asked to instruct saxophone at Saginaw Valley State University and has been there since, now occupying the position of Jazz Artist in Residence. Jeff has appeared as an adjudacator at many different high school and college jazz festivals as well as appearing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland, the Detroit International Jazz Festival, and the Flint Jazz festival as well as many other venues. Jeff is director of the Jazz Ensemble at SVSU and puts on a concert every semester with his talented students as well as a professional performance with top Michigan musicians. |
